fog — Terms of Service

The short version

fog is a canvas for ideas operated by fog labs tmi(Helsinki, Finland), currently in private beta. These terms cover the fog web app (at app.fog.do), the fog Chrome extension, and the fog Figma plugin. By using fog, you agree to them. They're written to be readable; if anything is unclear, email hello@fog.do.

fog is in beta

fog is early software, offered free during the beta. That means features may change, move, or be removed, and there will occasionally be downtime or rough edges. We may also take fog offline for maintenance when we need to.

Keep your own copies of anything important.We work hard to keep your canvases safe and we back them up, but during the beta you should not rely on fog as the only home for work you can't afford to lose.

Your account

During the private beta, access is invite-only. Your account is for you — keep the email address linked to it secure, since anyone who can receive your sign-in links can access your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use fog. Don't share access in a way that lets someone else act as you without your knowledge.

Your content stays yours

You own what you create in fog — your bubbles, images, text, links, drawings, and canvases. To run the service, you grant fog a limited licence to store, process, and display that content back to you and to the people you choose to share it with. That's the whole purpose of the licence: to show you your own work and to power sharing when you ask for it.

fog will not sell your content, and will not use it to train AI models. This mirrors our privacy policy.

Using fog responsibly

When you use fog, you agree not to:

• upload or share content you don't have the right to use, or that infringes someone else's rights;
• store or share illegal content, or content that harasses, threatens, or endangers others;
• attempt to break, overload, probe, or circumvent the service's security or rate limits;
• use fog to send spam, or scrape or harvest data from it in bulk;
• resell or redistribute the service, or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows.

You're responsible for what you put in fog and for what you choose to share. If you share a canvas with a link or with specific people, you decide who can see or edit it.

Availability and changes

Because fog is in beta, we don't promise any particular level of uptime, and we may add, change, suspend, or stop features at any time. We may also update these terms — if we do, we'll change the date above, and continued use of fog after a change means you accept the updated terms.

No warranty

fog is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We don't guarantee that fog will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific needs.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, fog and the people who build it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Since fog is free during the beta, this limit reflects that nature of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop using fog at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@fog.doand we'll remove it. We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these terms or that put the service or other people at risk.

Privacy

How fog handles your data is described in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms. In short: fog only stores what you create or choose to capture, keeps your data in the EU / Switzerland, and never sells it.
